Artist Statement

Coming from a family of Italians and Portuguese, I spent many weekends gathering around plentiful set tables, enjoying meals that lasted for hours and served as a place to celebrate family and friends while enjoying good homemade food.

Today I look back at those wonderful days with longing. It is so easy to get trapped into our cyber world, with so many links and information and  things that should bring us close but paradoxically keep us physically apart.

I see rituals of eating and drinking as  a connecting point and  hand made pots as  the most appropriate mean to serve and enjoy homemade food. When I make my ware I like to think that I'm contributing a little towards the food  rituals that can bring us closer.

My work combines simple lines and forms with a passion for intricate decoration. I'm inspired by geometric patterns from around the world.

Carving and piercing are some of the techniques I've been exploring in a search for harmony between detail and simpleness.

Each one of my pots are handmade with care and with the hope of bringing joy to people's everyday life.
